1. Ultralearning by Scott H Young
I like to talk about the writing. For me, this book has a rhythm in its writing. Although it’s a bit on the technical side, I’d like to praise the author for the way the words are arranged.
The words chosen are not very simple, but they’re not hard to understand either.I love this book so much. I especially love how the author teaches me to master new things in an extreme, effective way and in a short time. He shows how to put things effectively into your memory and into practice. I gave this book to a friend as a birthday present.
In the future, I want to return to this book, not for the content, but to study and learn the language rhythm, paragraph by paragraph.
2. The Millionaire Fastlane by MJ DeMarco
The author says this book is about a faster path to becoming a millionaire for an average person. It is well presented, and I enjoy the author’s simple and clear English.
As English is my second language, this book helps me improve my language while gaining new knowledge. It makes me feel encouraged, it makes me feel that writing in English is possible for me, and I hope that one day I will be able to write like this.
I gave this book to a friend, hoping he might understand what I’m searching for financially in the future. On my second visit to his office, the book was still on the shelf. That’s okay—I don’t regret giving it away.
3. Deep Work by Cal Newport
While the other 2 books have their own rhythm, I couldn't find my reading rhythm with this book. I tried different approaches to reading it. I changed my posture, changed locations, but still couldn't find the rhythm. It was in the middle when I really felt like quitting. The only thing that kept me going was the content—I really wanted to grasp it. Deep work, deep thinking, and deep focus. So I tried my best to go into deep focus just to finish this book. And I did it. I read this book to the end. It was a bit tiring.
Weird but true: after completely reading Deep Work, I realized that I could focus really quickly. I could go into deep work and deep thinking mode really fast. And it was a little bit scary because I became slightly more emotional. However, this effect lasted only about a week.
As I gave the other 2 books to others, I kept this book. I want to keep it. I need to reread it again and again. I need to train my brain to go deeper, work deeper. For deep work.
